28 More Pets Microchipped thanks to Coastal Pet Rescue
Coastal Pet Rescue hosted a Microchip Clinic at Island Grill in Port Wentworth, on Saturday, September 22. There were 28 pets microchipped at this event. A big thanks to all the volunteers, including Dennis and Ryan, two of our new volunteers.
Pet Owners Take Advantage of Low-Cost Microchipping
Well, word got around, and we were slammed for our low-cost microchipping clinic at Tybee Island yesterday. In 3 hours and 40 minutes, we chipped 83 dogs and 20 cats. But the pets weren’t just from Tybee; some pet owners drove many miles to take advantage of the $10 microchipping, coming from Midway, Guyton, Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, Pooler, Springfield, Bloomingdale, Richmond Hill, Garden City, and Collins, and even just over the bridge from Savannah. Our vet and vet tech were gracious and stayed late to ensure everyone got their chips.
We’re looking for host businesses in Rincon and Pooler for clinics this summer. We also plan to do a low-cost clinic at the annual Savannah Sand Gnats Bark in the Park.
Just What Is a Microchip?
This morning, Lisa Scarbrough appeared as a guest on WTOC’s Mid Morning Live with Sonny Dixon to promote the microchip clinic this Saturday. Producer Casey Jones was kind enough to provide us with the video so you may see just exactly what a microchip is and how it can reunite you with your lost pet.

Coastal Pet Rescue will hold another low-cost microchip clinic this coming Saturday, April 14, 1 to 4 pm, at Memorial Park on Tybee Island. With the publicity of the clinic, we have received numerous emails of questions. Curious about how the chip works, the process, and cost? Check out Lisa’s blog for answers to common questions.
